Mangave 'Spotty Dotty' is a striking intergeneric hybrid from the Mad About Mangaves® series developed by Terra Nova Nurseries, crossing Manfreda and Agave to produce a plant with the best traits of both genera. 'Spotty Dotty' is particularly prized for its dramatic foliage: wide, arching, jade-green leaves liberally splashed with dark maroon-purple spots that deepen in intensity with more sun exposure. The rosette typically reaches 18–24 inches tall and 2–3 feet wide, growing faster than a true agave while maintaining a bold architectural presence. Leaves are soft-margined with small teeth, lacking the rigid terminal spine of pure agaves, making it a more user-friendly plant for high-traffic areas. Like all mangaves, it is not monocarpic — it will offset freely and bloom without dying.
Picked up on April 1st, 2026, and placed by the pool — which is about the right setting for something this showy. The spotted leaf pattern catches the light well and should look great against water.
