Oklahoma storm map

One map of the Norman forecast office's (OUN) county-warning area with a single time scrubber. Drag it and every layer follows: what the KTLX radar and GOES-East satellite showed at that minute, what the HRRR was predicting for it, where the SPC outlook stood, which warnings were up, and where the tornado, wind and hail reports fell.

Every day, archived

A day is the SPC convective day, 12Z to 12Z, and each one has its own address, so a past storm day replays as the page showed it. A calendar marks the days with a tornado report or warning in the OUN area. Quiet days keep fewer frames.

Significant tornado parameter

Click the map and the fixed-layer STP is computed from HRRR fields for that point, term by term (CAPE, LCL, SRH, shear and CIN), with the term holding it down called out and its trend through the run.

Values above 1 are where significant tornadoes have historically clustered.

Run ladder and soundings

The last six HRRR runs' picture of the same moment sit side by side. A cell that holds still across runs is a forecast; one that jumps is noise. An agreement layer shades where the runs agree on 35 dBZ or more.

A sounding panel compares the balloon launch with the model column at the point you click.
