About this Ivory Spined Agave
Agave utahensis var. eborispina, commonly called Ivory-spined Agave or Long Spined Utah Century Plant, is a distinctive, cold-hardy desert succulent native to the rocky mountains and canyons of southeastern California and southern Nevada. It forms compact rosettes, typically 8–12in wide and 6–10in tall, with thick, narrow blue-gray leaves. These leaves are characterized by heavily toothed margins and striking terminal spines that can reach up to 4–7in long, often wavy and papery, and emerge ivory white—making the plant highly ornamental and instantly recognizable among agave enthusiasts. The leaf tips' exaggerated spines, along with the overall compact size, separate eborispina from other Utah agave varieties.
