Pachypodium lamerei, despite its common name 'Madagascar Palm', is actually a succulent native to Madagascar. It features a thick, spiny trunk that can grow up to 20 feet tall in its natural habitat, though it typically stays much smaller in cultivation. The trunk is topped with a crown of long, narrow green leaves, creating a palm-like appearance. During the growing season, it can produce clusters of large, white, fragrant flowers.
This plant was an impulse buy from a local greenhouse. It's kind of ugly but keeps growing and growing!
